Would you like to be more grounded on your rituals, or spells? Perfection in them is an open door to new dimensions of success or greatness that could boost your morale as a witch or wizard. It is often used to define the strength or potency of your magic.

Rituals can create a confusing area for contemporary witches. Among thousands of witchcraft available online and in books and other publications, many of them are recreated versions of each other. There are many types of rituals or spells, so it can be extremely difficult to filter it all and look for certain ritual that speaks to you. Therefore, it is essential for one to learn how to create their rituals, a ritual that comes within you.

Though creating your own rituals might be tricky and challenging as an amateur witch or wizard may think, but once they look at the fundamental structure of a ritual, it is just like all “fill in the blanks” type of an already customized one. Notwithstanding that though, the idea of using imagination and creativity within a customized ritual feels like quite too much to do, so it’s still great to use prewritten rituals and put a little “magic” on it.

The fundamental rule in creating witch craft rituals is to first and foremost understand the purpose of having a particular ritual. Though the idea of research might be a bit tiring, before sitting down to start formulating your own ritual, there is a lot of personal work to be done in order for the ritual to be effective. It is good to have in mind that rituals must not have to be elaborately worded affairs that might take long hours to perform. Some of the most effective rituals are the ones who come directly from the heart. Some two very important, and well used steps, their importance and objectives of use are going to be elaborately discussed in the next paragraph.

Casting the circle is the well-known step used by witches which entails creating or forming a circle. This circle could be drawn out physically or imaginary. The space within the circle is said to be sacred and considered to be “between two worlds”. This helps in keeping the growing energy inside the circle, keeping unwanted energy away.

Many spells and rituals start with the instruction: “Cast a circle, and then…” At this point you’re probably wondering, what exactly is this magical circle? Why do you need to cast it? And what’s the best way to do it?

A magical circle is an energetic atmosphere that you build or envision around yourself before casting a spell, when trying to perform a ritual. This process could differ based on the number of people, and its purpose. For a solitary witch or wizard, the diameter is usually around 5 or 6 feet, but expands based on the size of the coven. Other times, the circle could be represented by something in the physical world, such as a ring of candles, coven of witches or wizards hold hands around a circle, scarves or perhaps symbolic items at the four cardinal points.

A reason for use of the circle is the fact that it provides protection. It is cast with the intention that only energies that are positive and beneficent to the individual casting it may enter or dwell within. This way, when the witch or wizard is open to the energetic realm, they need not worry about picking up energies or currents that are not for their benefit. It also serves as a container for personal energy as well as the energy being conjured. Your power as a magical practitioner is made clear and defined by the circle.

Casting a circle can be done in many different ways, depending on the taste of the person performing. Magical practitioners cast circles in many ways.

The following is a well-defined step on the procedure to casting a magic circle.

1. Find a flat, quiet open space where you won’t be disturbed.
2. Indicate the four cardinal directions using a compass.
3. Place a simple representation of each of the four elements at each corresponding point around the circle, in the appropriate order: Earth/north, Air/east, Fire/south, and Water/west.
4. Stand facing east, in the center of the circle. Relax and envision the wind whipping around you and get really in tune with the element of air. And then simply make the utterance “Spirits of Air, I call on you.”
5. Turn to the south still in a relaxed state, envision the crackling flames and the noonday sun. Once you feel relax and tune with fire make the utterance “Spirits of Fire, I call on you.”
6. While maintaining the same fix position, turn to the west, envision flowing water in waves and waterfalls and streams, possibly moving around your body. When you feel attuned with water, say, “Spirits of Water, I call on you.”
7. Turn to the north. Conjure up the scent of the earth after it rains. Imagine the silence and darkness of a cave and the rooted feeling of being barefoot on the earth. When you feel attuned, say, “Spirits of Earth, I call on you.”
8. Still facing north, become aware of your feet and send a column of light deep into the core of the Earth. Bring golden white light up from the center of the earth and into your body. Say, “Mother Earth, I call on you.”
9. Next, send branches or a column of light up from the crown of your head, out of the earth’s atmosphere and into the Infinite Cosmos. Bring golden white light down from the Cosmos and down into your body. Say, “Father Sky, I call on you.”
10. Feel protected and contained on all sides, as well as from above and below. Feel gratitude for this Divine support and say, “Thank you, thank you, thank you. The circle is cast. Blessed be.”

Now you can sit in the center of your circle and meditate or work your magic. When you’re done with the ritual, don’t forget to thank each element as well as the earth and cosmos.

This is just one amongst many other ritual processes, which will be discussed in subsequent articles. In the meantime, I hope you have a touch of knowledge concerning rituals and spells.

Casting the Circle

Casting the Circle

Learn Traditional Wiccan WItchcraft – The Gardnerian Book of Shadows, by Gerald Gardner

It is most convenient to mark the circle with chalk, paint or otherwise, to show where it is; but marks on the carpet may be utilized. Furniture may be placed to indicate the bounds. The only circle that matters is the one drawn before every ceremony with either a duly consecrated Magic Sword or an Athame. The circle is usually nine feet in diameter, unless made for some very special purpose. There are two outer circles, each six inches apart, so the third circle has a diameter of eleven feet.

[1] Having chosen a place proper, take the sickle or scimitar of Art or a Witch’s Athame, if thou mayest obtain it, and stick it into the center, then take a cord, and ’twere well to use the Cable Tow for this, and loop it over the Instrument, four and one half feet, and so trace out the circumference of the circle, which must be traced either with the Sword, or the knife with the black hilt, or it be of little avail, but ever leave open a door towards the North. Make in all 3 circles, one within the other , and write names of power between these.

[2] First draw circle with Magic Sword or Athame.

[3] Consecrate Salt and Water: Touch water with Athame, saying, “I exorcise thee, O creature of Water, that thou cast out from Thee all the impurities and uncleannesses of the Spirits of the World of Phantasm, so they may harm me not, in the names of Aradia and Cernunnos.”

[4] Touching Salt with Athame, say, “The Blessings of Aradia and Cernunnos be upon this creature of Salt, and let all malignity and hindrance be cast forth hencefrom, and let all good enter herein, for without Thee man cannot live, wherefore I bless thee and invoke thee, that thou mayest aid me.”

[5] Then put the Salt into the water.

[6] Sprinkle with exorcised water.

[7] Light candles; say, “I exorcise thee, O Creature of Fire, that every kind of Phantasm may retire from thee, and be unable to harm or deceive in any way, in the names of Aradia and Cernunnos.”

[8] Caution initiate (if any); warn companions; enter circle and close doors with 3 pentagrams.

[9] Proclaim object of working

[10] Circumambulate 3 times or more before commencing work.

[11] Summon: “I summon, stir, and Call thee up, thou Mighty Ones of the East, South, West, and North.” Salute and draw pentacle with Magic Sword or Athame, the first stroke being from the top down to the left.

Sex Magick Ritual

Sex Magick Ritual

Practicing Sex Magick

The sexual act is possibly the most potent–and pleasurable–gateway to the primordial and the divine. From the Tantric mysteries of Hinduism and Buddhism and the inner alchemy of Taoism, to the traditions of Western Magic and Witchcraft–sex pervades the highest and most secret teachings all over the world.

Use the BWC Ritual of “5 easy Steps of Sex Magic”:

Set a goalmale witch litha

What exactly do you want to achieve with your magick? Your goal can be any material attainment, like a new job, prosperity in business affairs, a pleasant house, whatever.

Deeply desired wishes create the strongest magick!

For example:

  1. Your goal can be the healing of yourself, another person, mother earth…
  2. Your intent can be improvement of an existing relationship or attraction of a new one.
  3. You may wish to (further) develop several qualities in yourself, or create an excellent artistic piece.
  4. You may wish to embrace the inner lover, and establish a stronger connection with your higher self.
  5. You may wish to charge an amulet, talisman, or magical tools, etc…

  • Prepare your working space.
Clean the space where the ritual will take place. Decorate it with candles, incense, flowers, gemstones or anything else you find appropriate. If you use symbols or other pictures make sure you can see them during the ritual. If you wish to play music, don’t forget to put it on the repeat-button. Close the door and lay the phone off the hook.
  • Clean your body.
While bathing or showering you can visualize the water washing off all mental, emotional and physical dirt.
  • Relax for a while.
Take some deep breaths or meditate a little.
If you do magick with a partner you may want to sit opposite each other, hold hands and synchronize breathing or inhale while your partner exhales.
  • Do a banishment.
It is very important to visualize a strong circle/globe of protection that keeps all unwanted spirits out, or do any other banishment you prefer, before you actually start the ritual.

I often perform sex magick in nature, and it feels amazing to call to Pan’s playful and very naughty, highly masculine sexual nature. – BWS

Pan is the God I call to for my Pagan style celebrations, at certain times of the year. He is playful, and every sexually charged.

Are you drawing on the energy of a deity?  A God or Goddess?

Or giving praise to a God of Goddess?

If so, set up this now. either in your mind, or on you altar.

The Ritual

Now you are ready to perform the ritual.

I know two ‘main routes’ to preparing for sex magic: one with emphasis on the affirmation/mantra/Word of Power, and one with emphasis on visualization.

Then create something that makes it possible to laser-like concentrate on your goal/intent during the ritual. – This can be a short affirmation. During the ritual you can repeat the whole affirmation.

– This can be a visualization of the new created reality.
It can be a drawing of what you want.
It can be a symbolic representation of your desire, like a suitable tarot card, rune, sigil, astrological or other symbol.

If you prefer working with a visualization:

  1. Start with visualizing very vividly the new reality; see yourself in the desired situation, feel your happiness about it, visualize it as bright and detailed as you can.
  2. When your visualization is complete to your idea, tell your mind that this is your focus, then mentally store it in your subconsciousness.
  3. Start making love with your partner or masturbating, no longer thinking about the visualization.
  4. At the brink of orgasm back off, recall your visualization and breathe your orgasmic energy in it.
  5. Continue the rhythm of arousal and backing off several times.
  6. Just before orgasm recall the visualization from your mind and breathe/channel your orgasm into it.

Power Wordsex magic

Another possibility is to reduce this affirmation to a word that covers its central idea; this will be your magical word.

  • the affirmation “I am a successful business(wo)man” …….becomes “Success”.
  • “I request the universe to send me the best possible lover, or partner” ……becomes “Lover” or “Partner”.

The idea behind it is that your subconsciousness now knows your full intent, therefore it is sufficient to only repeat your magical word during the ritual.

Tips: If you choose to work with an affirmation:

  1. Arouse yourself and/or your partner by any sexual activity you wish to use until you almost reach orgasm. Meanwhile keep on repeating the affirmation or mantra; you can say it out loud or repeat it silently.
  2. When you are at the brink of orgasm back off by stopping all genital stimulation, stopping all pelvic movements and relax the muscles in the pelvic floor.
  3. Breathe deeply and concentrate even more on your mantra. After a while build up more excitement, backing off again just before the point-of-no-return. This way you build up a great amount of sexual magical energy and deep erotic sensations; you may reach a state of sexual trance.
  4. After several times coming close you wish to sweep all of your intent into the universe; let orgasm happen and – here comes the most important part – keep on affirming during orgasm with full mental concentration, call out loud your magical word(s) and don’t mind the neighbors!
  5. Take care: if you lose focus during orgasm, you will have had great sex but no magical ritual!
  6. Continue the ritual until both (or all) partners have reached orgasm.

You can use a combination of the above.

sex magick

Some words about orgasm:

If you are a woman capable of having multiple orgasms – (a series of orgasms quickly after one another)  – just enjoy, have them during the ritual and end with the final orgasm.

If you are a man, here’s the good news that men can learn to have multiples too; by coming close then backing off just before the point-of-no-return several times men can experience all the feelings of an orgasm without having an ejaculation. Some men have a series of small orgasms, some men experience them as bigger orgasms. If you can do this, end the ritual with final orgasm/ejaculation. Not all men know that most women need clitoral stimulation to reach orgasm; although there are erotic areas in the vagina most women need the pressure of the pubic bone of their partner against the clitoris or stimulation by hand during intercourse to have orgasm.

Closinglove spells

After orgasm you may wish to confirm your magick with the words:

“So mote it be”

……and to give thanks to God/the Goddess and your partner.

It is important to stay close the first minutes after intercourse with your genitals close together.

There are two reasons for this:

  1. When having sex your chakras open up and after orgasm you’re completely open with part of your energy swirling around you. You need some time to recollect it and get energized again. If one partner rushes away after orgasm you can feel very disappointed, lonely and exhausted because of this reason.
  2. After sex magick the sexual fluids of man and woman are charged with their magical intent; they can etherically absorb this power for their well being and health through the vaginal walls and the head of the penis. It may be clear that when you use a condom it is very unwise to stay close together with your genitals. The charged sexual fluids can be used to charge an amulet or talisman by smearing some of it on them; in case your ritual was for gaining money you can smear it on a coin or paper money you had put on your altar; you can redraw the lines of a sigil for this ritual with it, mix the fluid with wine and drink it with your partner, etc.
In sex magick the charged sexual fluids have become the sacred elixir of life, and are in no way dirty. If however you are carrying a sexual transmittable disease it is best to skip this part.

When you are doing sex magick alone please know that your sexual fluids form a complete sacrament, although they now contain one polarity, not two.

I will collect sperm in an small plastic container, and use the sperm for spells and rituals at a later date. Don’t forget to put the sperm in the fridge! – BWS

End the ritual with a banishment.astral sex

The heightened energy of your ritual may have attracted astral beings. Make sure to keep them at a distance by reconfirming your banishment, like for instance a visualized circle of protection.

Let me know about your magickal success.

I’ve read a small pile of books on sex magic. This isn’t the same old stuff you’ve read a million times. How to call down the quarters

The beginning of starting any witchcraft spell or ritual involves calling to the great 4 corners of the earth.

You do this after casting your protective circle, then you’ll want to ‘call the quarters’, that is invoke the elementals and their energies at the four compass points of your sacred space. These are the Watchtowers, the protectors, the energies that add fuel to your magical workings and power to your rituals…Earth, Air, Fire, and Water.

You Will Need:

1. Four candles:

North: Earth

Set a green candle at the north gate, the gate of Earth. Light this candle, raise your athame/wand/or index finger in the air, and while drawing the invoking pentagram of Earth in the space above this candle say:

Watchtowers of the North,
I summon you now
To this sacred place.
Guard this circle
Outside of time and space.
By the powers of Earth,
To my magic give birth.”

East: Air

Set a yellow candle at the east gate, the gate of Air. Light this candle, raise your athame/wand/or index finger in the air, and while drawing the invoking pentagram of Air in the space above this candle say:

Watchtowers of the East,
I summon you now
To this sacred place.
Guard this circle
Outside of time and space.
By the powers of Air
Bring magic to bare.”

South: Fire

Set a red candle at the south gate, the gate of Fire. Light this candle, raise your athame/wand/or index finger in the air, and while drawing the invoking pentagram of Fire in the space above this candle say:

Watchtowers of the South,
I summon you now
To this sacred place.
Guard this circle
Outside of time and space.
By the powers of Fire,
My magic inspire.”

West: Water

Set a blue candle at the west gate, the gate of Water. Light this candle, raise your athame/wand/or index finger in the air, and while drawing the invoking pentagram of Water in the space above this candle say:

Watchtowers of the West,
I summon you now
To this sacred place.
Guard this circle
Outside of time and space.
By the powers of Water will be
Energy to set my magic free.”
When your ritual is finished, when your spell is complete, go to each of the four quarters; dismiss the elementals with a banishing pentagram, a thank you, and farewell…wish them a safe journey and ask for their blessing.

Ritual Bathing Spell

Ritual Bathing Spell

Ritual bathing arose in times gone by from a perceived need to be in as ‘virgin’ – that is, unsullied – a state as possible. This is what gave rise to working skyclad, i.e. without clothes, so that there were no encumbrances between the practitioner and his or her gods or deities.

Ritual Bathing Spell

You will need

As you mix in your salts, bless the water and charge it with your
intent – be that a particular magical working, a relaxing
evening or a successful meeting.

The candles used in this ritual can be in the colours of the Elements or those most appropriate to your purpose, for example – pink (tranquillity), blue (wisdom), green (self-awareness) and red (passion).

For spiritual matters, use purple.

Anoint the large white candle with the essential oil and ask for positivity,
health and happiness as you do so.
Do the same with the votive candles according to your need. You may, if you Run your bath and mix in the bath salts.

Light the candles, first the white one followed by the votives. Place the latter safely around the bath.
The white candle should be placed wherever you feel is safest. You have now created a sacred space for yourself.

Lie back and enjoy your bath and at some point drink your water or juice visualizing your whole system being cleansed inside as well as out.
Before you get out of the bath, thank the water deities for this opportunity to prepare thoroughly for the new energies available to you.
If you are to perform a magical working, then keep your mind focused on that intent.

On this occasion, for safety’s sake, when you have finished your bath, snuff out the candles.

Ritual To Dedicate a Book of Shadows

Ritual To Dedicate a Book of Shadows

Before you begin the ritual, take a moment to compose a short book blessing that you will copy into the book itself during the ritual

Piece of plain white cloth (of natural fibers)

Book, tool, or object to be dedicated

Bowl of salt or soil to represent element of earth

Stick or herbal incense to represent element of air

Censer or heatproof dish (and charcoal tablet if using herbal incense)

Candle and holder to represent element of fire

Bowl of water to represent element of water

A prepared book blessing

Anointing oil (plain olive oil, or a blend of oils for blessing

Begin the ritual

1. Center and ground. Create sacred space or cast your circle, as you wish. Either is appropriate for this ritual.

2. Invite elemental energy to be present. For example:

Do this for all four elements.

3. Invite the Divine to be present in the form of the Goddess and God. Use the names of specific god-forms if you work regularly with them.

4. Pick up the white cloth and run it over the book’s covers, both inside and out. Run it gently along the edges of the pages. If there are any tags or foreign matter on the book, remove them. In this step you are physically cleansing the book.

5. From the bowl of salt or earth, take a pinch and sprinkle it on the book, saying:

If you wish, you may purify with the remaining three elements, although the salt will suffice.

6. Center and ground again. Hold the book in your hands and open your energy center. Allow your awareness to flow into the book. Feel your energy filling it, and visualize it glowing brighter and brighter. As the glow of your energy permeates it, visualize any other energies clinging to it simply dissolving away. Say:

7. Take the book and touch it with another bit of earth or salt; pass it through the smoke of the incense; let the light cast by the flame of the candle dance across it; and sprinkle it with a few drops of water. As you do so, imagine the energies of each element filling the book with positive energy and the touch of elemental energy that will further consecrate it.

8. Open the book and write your book blessing inside on the first page. Take a touch of oil on your finger and draw whatever symbols of protection and wisdom you desire, if any, on the front and back covers. As you do, charge the book with the positive energy that you and the elements have created.

9. When you are done, thank and release the deities you have invited to be present. Thank and release the elements for their help as well. Dismantle your circle or declare your ritual complete if you have used sacred space. A simple “It is done” can suffice..
